ACC Cross Country Season
It is that time of year again for the school’s cross country season. So far we have timed events at Kolbe College, Emmanuel Catholic College, Corpus Christi, John XXIII College, Bunbury Cathedral Grammar school and Wesley College. The kids all had a great time and it was wonderful to see them run through our arches at the finish line.
This was just the warm up to an amazing (and particularly rainy) day where Aldebury Reserve held host to the ACC Cross Country Run. Over 3,500 students braved the elements in what was a very successful event for all involved. A big congraulations to Sacred Heart who took home the overall winning trophy.
Sacred Heart College continued their dominance of the ACC Cross Country winning a ninth consecutive title in the Combined Aggregate. CBC Fremantle won the boys title and Sacred Heart was also the champion girls school.
Congratulations to all schools that competed in what was a fantastic carnival under cold and wet conditions. The event this year was a record for participation numbers with well over 3,646 students competing in 10 races with ages from under 13 to under 19.
For the first time in the 47 year history of the event all results were fully automated with our RaceTec timing system managed by our team from BlueChip timing and the results were recorded using a specially designed point scoring system created by our technical staff. It was commented by the ACC event coordinators that this ‘added a new level of professionalism to the carnival and helped maintain this event as the largest and best schools cross country competition in the state’.
